Do you have any gluten free products?
Yes, our Toasted Sesame Dressing and Marinadee is gluten free. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, tritical, barley and oats. Some people are highly sensitive to gluten and it is the cause of Celiac Disease. However, extensive scientific research shows that vinegar is safe for Celiacs because:

  • Wheat is rarely used in the vinegar-making process. Usually apple, grapes, corn or barley is used in making vinegar.
  • If wheat is used, the gluten peptides would not survive the distillation process.

Are your other products gluten free?
No, they contain soy sauce, which contains wheat. The wheat contains gluten.

What does "expeller pressed" mean?
An expeller press is a screw type machine which presses oil through a caged barrel-like cavity, using friction and continuous pressure from screw drives to move and compress the seed material. Pressure involved in expeller pressing creates heat in the range of 60° - 99° C, (140° - 210° F).

Vegetable oils in the natural foods/health foods industry are almost all of the expeller pressed type. Expeller oil pressing is a mechanical rather than a chemical extraction process. This method results in no solvent (such as hexane or other petroleum-based distillents) left in the oil residues. Soy Vay uses expeller pressed soy and sesame oils in all of our products.
